He immigrated with his parents in 1872. They settled in Spring Valley Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota for their first ten year sin this country. In 1882 they came to Marshall County and settled on the Northwest quarter of Section 1 in the township of Sinnott. Theyhad to unload the railroad car in Crookston, because there was noplace in Stephen, and drive from Crookston with the team and wagon toStephen. There was only one shanty between S. P.'s place and Stephen-- a distance of about 9 miles cross country. There were no roads or bridges so in wet weather the water in the coulee would get so deepthat it would come into the wagon box when they crossed.

When S. P. first came to Marshall County all he had to hitch on the walk plow to break the sod was an ox, a bull, and a horse. He went east about 16 miles to get tamarack logs to use for the studding, joists and rafters to build a barn and granary. The studding and joists were dove tailed and put together with oak pegs. The granary was still being used in 1976. In 1902 S. P. was shown as owning theNW corner of Section 1 and 80 acres in the NE portion of Section 11.By 1909 S. P. was shown as owning the N one-half (320 acres) ofSection 1 and 79 acres in the E portion of Section 11. Bolette Jensen had to do a lot of cooking for the threshing crews. There were from16 to 24 men in a threshing crew and many of them were bachelor neighbors. S. P. Jensen was a member of the town board and also clerk of the school district and later he was Treasurer of Sinnott Township for twenty years. They belonged to the Methodist Church and because there was no Methodist Church building at the time, services were held at their home for many years.

Even after all the hardships pioneers encountered S. P. and Bolette Jensen lived long lives. Bolette Jensen lived to be 81 years and S. P.Jensen lived to be 94. They retired from farming in 1928 and moved toStephen. Their youngest son took over and farmed until 1965. Thegrandson of S. P. was farming in the same place in 1976.

He could read, write and speak English. He owned his farm, free andclear in 1900.
